Meaford is packed with opportunities to hear amazing live music performances. Meaford Hall features everything from last Saturday’s appearance by Juno-Award-winner Hawksley Workman to performances by local musicians to crowd-pleasing shows by tribute bands showcasing classic rock favourites. The Electric Eclectics Festival, held Friday through Sunday of the August long weekend at a beautiful Scotch Mountain farm with incredible vistas of the rolling hills, offers “electro, experimental and turntablism” with artists from Canada, the U.S. and Europe alongside audio, video and other art installations.  McGuinty’s upstairs brings in a variety of established and up-and-coming performers. And don’t forget the jam-packed jam night every Wedensday at Ted’s Range Road Diner.
But venture up the road from Ted’s – up to where Irish Mountain offers a beautifully commanding view of Georgian Bay and Georgian Peaks rising on the north face of the Blue Mountain Escarpment – and you’re in for a real treat.
Irish Mountain Music has been offering a few dozen visitors a rare experience at least every couple of months – a chance to hear their favourite musical artists in a truly intimate setting – and sometimes even unplugged. More tomorrow.
